FAQ

 Treefort Naturals FAQ

Q: How is your soap made?

A: Our handcrafted soaps are made with the old fashioned cold process method. This means that we achieve saponification simply by mixing oils (we use all plant based oils) with a sodium hydroxide (lye) solution. Our original recipes are carefully crafted to yield hard, bubbly bars of beautiful natural soap.

Q: Why do you use lye?

A: We get asked this question often…and the truth is that there is no such thing as soap made without lye! And while lye on its own is a caustic substance, once it has done its job in the soap making process, there is not a trace of it left in our finished product. Just gentle, cleansing soap!

Q: Are your soaps organic, vegan, gmo-free?

A: We use 100% natural, sustainably sourced and gmo-free ingredients in our products. Many of the oils (such as coconut oil, shea butter, safflower oil, etc) and the herbs and botanicals (such as lavender, calendula, sage, turmeric, etc.) that we use are certified organic. Most of our soaps are 100% plant based but we do make some that contain local goat milk, honey and beeswax. We never use animal fats. We are part of PETA’s Beauty Without Bunnies Cruelty-Free Business program.

Q: Do you use palm oil?

A: We use certified organic palm oil (traceable to its source) and certified by the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO). We believe in supporting responsible agricultural practices and choose to use palm oil for the exceptional properties it lends to soap.

Q: Are your products really “all natural”?

A: While there is no officially recognized definition of "natural" in the world of skincare, we believe our products are as natural as you can get! You will not find synthetic ingredients in our products. This includes synthetic fragrances, dyes, and preservatives. We have partnered with the Natural Ingredient Resource Center and taken the “Truth in Labeling” pledge. Because there are no regulations on the use of the word “natural”, it is hard to know what you are buying sometimes. We encourage label reading and promise to be fully transparent in all of our labeling.
